The Temple Owls Football team, founded in 1894, plays for Temple University in the American Athletic Conference and NCAA Division I FBS. Early programs produced NFL players and All-Americans by establishing solid foundations in defense and passing. By fusing ancient custom with contemporary collegiate competition, the team's cherry and white uniforms and owl mascot represent Philadelphia's pride in both academics and athletics.
Temple has participated in 13 bowl games, including the 2019 Military Bowl and the 2016 Boca Raton Bowl. NFL players like Tavon Young and Haason Reddick are notable alumni. While home games against rival schools like Villanova and UCF draw sizable crowds, conference victories including several AAC games, highlight calculated offensive and defensive strategies.
