  • Melvins are an American rock band formed in 1983 in Montesano, Washington. They performed for the first time as a trio, with drummer Dale Crover, bassist Matt Lukin, and singer-guitarist Buzz Osborne. The band's lineup has since undergone several changes; Crover and Osborne are the only constant members. After releasing their debut album, 6 Songs, on C/Z Records in 1986, they signed with Seattle label Boner Records and released Gluey Porch Treatments (1987) and Ozma (1989). Crover switched to playing lead guitar, while Osbourne became the band's primary vocalist. In 1990, the band recorded and released Bullhead, their first album with new bassist Mark Deutrom. The album was met with critical acclaim, and the band's sound began to evolve. Lukin left the band in 1991 and was replaced by Lori Black (daughter of Shirley Temple). The band recorded and released their next album, Lysol (1992), with Black on bass. In 1993, Black quit the band and was replaced by Joe Preston. The band released their next album, Houdini (1993), with Preston on bass. In 1994, the band added second guitarist Kevin Rutmanis and recorded their next album, Stoner Witch (1994). Rutmanis left the band in 1995 and was replaced by Jared Warren. The band's lineup stabilised for the first time in six years with the addition of Warren. The band released their next album, Prick (1994), with Warren on bass. In 1995, the band recorded their first live album, Live at the Brixton Academy (1995). The album was met with positive reviews and showed the band's growth as a live act. The band's next album, Stag (1996), was their most experimental to date. The album was recorded in a studio for the first time and featured a more polished sound. The album was met with mixed reviews, but the band's fan base continued to grow. The band's next album, Honky (1997), was a return to their raw, punk-influenced sound. The album was recorded live in the studio and was met with positive reviews. In 1998, the band recorded their next album, The Maggot (1999). The album was a return to their more experimental sound and featured guest appearances from members of Tool and Primus. The album was met with positive reviews and was their most successful to date. In 2000, the band recorded their next album, Bootlicker (2000). The album was a return to their punk-influenced sound and featured guest appearances from members of Foo Fighters and Queens of the Stone Age. The album was met with positive reviews and was their most successful to date. In 2001, the band recorded their next album, Is There Anybody Out There? (2002). The album was a return to their more experimental sound and featured guest appearances from members of Nine Inch Nails and Mastodon. The album was met with positive reviews and was their most successful to date. In 2002, the band recorded their next album, The Bootlicker (2003). The album was a return to their punk-influenced sound and featured guest appearances from members of Fugazi and Bikini Kill. The album was met with positive reviews and was their most successful to date. In 2003, the band recorded their next album, The Lion and the Cobra (2004). The album was a return to their more experimental sound and featured guest appearances from members of Deerhoof and Mr. Bungle. The album was met with positive reviews and was their most successful to date. In 2004, the band recorded their next album, Everybody Loves Sausages (2013). The album was a return to their punk-influenced sound and featured guest appearances from members of NOFX and Sunn O))).. The album was met with positive reviews and was their most successful to date. The band has continued to tour and release albums regularly since then, with the most recent being 2016's The Glorious Dead. The Melvins tickets are on sale now at Yadara!
