Thorbjørn Risager (born 1977 in Denmark) established Black Tornado in 2003, fusing blues, rock, and soul. He learned guitar and vocals and was inspired by B.B. King and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Early albums such as Love and Respect (2005) laid the groundwork for a fruitful career. Risager's strong vocals and the band's solid rhythm section immediately gained recognition in Europe.
The 2009 album A New Day Coming peaked at number ten on the Danish blues charts. Tours around Europe, participation at the Montreux Jazz and Copenhagen Blues Festivals, and prizes such as Danish Music Award nominations helped to establish their status. Collaborations with blues legends broadened their appeal. "Need Your Love" and "As Time Goes By" remain live favorites.
Their 2024 CD, Blues for the Soul, includes powerful new tracks played live. They perform more than 60 gigs per year and are known for their high-energy solos, precise horn arrangements, and audience participation.
