Ian Richard Devaney leads the synth-pop group Nation Of Language, which was formed in Brooklyn in 2016. They released the Introduction, Presence EP (2016) on their own, and it was influenced by new wave bands from the 1980s like New Order and Depeche Mode. Members also have experience in sound design and the visual arts, which helps make the performances more atmospheric. Early songs like "Indignities" showed off their melodic and textural skills, which helped them build a loyal synth-pop fan base.
Billboard's Heatseekers chart ranked the 2020 album A Way Forward at number 15. They toured North America and Europe, playing at festivals like SXSW 2019 and Reeperbahn 2020. People loved the singles "Stroboscope Light" and "Automobile" when they played live because of their upbeat synth arrangements. Working with visual artists made their stage show bigger. The band has become a well-known act in modern synth-pop circles, with more than 100,000 Spotify listeners every month.
Their tour in 2024 will include both fan favorites and hits from Strange Disciple. Live shows have immersive projections, sequenced synths, and choreographed light effects, and each venue can hold 2,000 to 4,000 fans. The lively shows by Nation Of Language mix old and new sound design. Get your Nation Of Language tickets on Yadara now to experience the synth-pop spectacle live.
