Louis-Jean Cormier is a Canadian singer, songwriter and guitarist from Quebec. He is best known as a member of the rock band Karkwa, with whom he has won two Juno Awards. Cormier has also released three solo albums. His most recent album, Les Grandes Artères, was nominated for the Juno Award for Francophone Album of the Year at the Juno Awards of 2016. Cormier was born in Sainte-Foy, Quebec and grew up in Quebec City. He began playing guitar at the age of 13. Cormier's first band was called Les Hôtesses d'Hilaire, which he formed with high school friends. The band released two albums, Les Hôtesses d'Hilaire (2001) and Dans tes yeux (2003). Cormier left the band in 2003 to pursue a solo career.
Cormier's debut solo album, Tout le monde en même temps, was released in 2004. The album was nominated for the Juno Award for Francophone Album of the Year at the Juno Awards of 2005. Cormier released his second album, Les Grandes Artères, in 2015. The album was nominated for the Juno Award for Francophone Album of the Year at the Juno Awards of 2016. Cormier has also released two albums with his side project Park amygdala. The first album, Un instant de plus, was released in 2006. The second album, Les chemins de verre, was released in 2009. Cormier is a member of the rock band Karkwa. The band has released six studio albums, Le volume du vent (2007), Les chemins de verre (2009), Les tremblements s'immobilisent (2011), Le Fil (2013), Radieuse vertu (2015) and Delta (2018). Karkwa has won two Juno Awards, for Francophone Album of the Year for Les chemins de verre in 2010 and for Rock Album of the Year for Le Fil in 2014.
