Rata Blanca, which started in Buenos Aires in 1985, became one of the most important bands in Latin American hard rock.  Walter Giardino, the guitarist, and Adrián Barilari, the singer, lead the band. Giardino was influenced by Deep Purple and Rainbow.  Their early recordings and debut album Rata Blanca (1988) showed off a mix of catchy riffs and strong vocals, which helped them become well-known in Argentina very soon.  Songs like "Mujer Amante" became popular anthems of the time.

Rata Blanca's 1990 album Magos, Espadas y Rosas made them famous around the world. It sold more than 500,000 copies and topped Latin charts.  They played at big festivals such as Viña del Mar (Chile, 1991) and Rock al Parque (Colombia, 1993), and they won a lot of ACE Awards for Best Rock Band.  Working with musicians like Graham Bonnet gave them more respectability, while successes like "La Leyenda del Hada y el Mago" made sure their legacy would last.

Rata Blanca still wows crowds on tours in Latin America and Europe.  Recent albums like Tormenta Eléctrica (2015) and Abriendo Caminos (2021) have songs that fans love, such as "El Reino Olvidado."  Their live presentations are known for their explosive guitar solos, soaring vocals, and energetic stage presence.
