Orange Goblin started out as Our Haunted Kingdom in London in 1995. In 1996, they put out a split 7-inch with Electric Wizard and then changed their name. Frequencies from Planet Ten (1997), their first album, set the tone for their signature stoner doom sound. This was followed by Time Travelling Blues (1998) and The Big Black (2000). The band's intricate guitar work and Ben Ward's powerful vocals are influenced by classic rock, punk, and metal. The lyrics, on the other hand, deal with science fiction, literature, and the rebellious spirit of rock 'n' roll.
Coup de Grace, which came out in 2002, was the band's big break. It had a heavier, more varied sound. Their albums Thieving from the House of God (2004) and Healing Through Fire (2007) made them famous all over the UK and Europe. A Eulogy for the Damned (2012) was a huge hit around the world and led to a world tour in 2013. The Wolf Bites Back (2018) showed that they are still a big part of metal music. Collaborations and appearances at festivals over the past 30 years have led to chart success and awards, showing how consistently they have affected the genre.
Orange Goblin released Science, Not Fiction in 2024. It was their first album in six years. Their live shows are still amazing, mixing old songs like "Red Tide Rising" and "Some You Win, Some You Lose" with new ones. The riffs are nonstop and the stage presence is strong.
