  • The American Rock band, Modest Mouse was formed in 1992 in Issaquah, Washington, and is presently based in Portland, Oregon. The band's original lineup consisted of bassist Eric Judy, guitarist Jeremiah Green, Lisa Molinaro, and Jim Fairchild who joined together with drummer Dann Gallucci to form the group. The trio released their debut "EP This Is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About" in 1996, followed by the "LP The Lonesome Crowded West" in 1997. The Modest Mouse live show lineup has changed several times since its inception, with Judy and Green being the only constant members. Modest Mouse is known for their dark, surrealist lyrics, as well as their unique sound which combines elements of indie rock, punk, and country. By the time they started playing "Be Brave," Brock and his newly-formed seven-piece band had already captivated their full audience, prompting a smooth transition into hit single “Ocean Breathes Salty”. The indie Modest Mouse band has released six studio albums, most recently Strangers to Ourselves in 2015. Modest Mouse is renowned for their collection of masterful hits, including Dark Center of the Universe, Lampshades on Fire, King Rat, The Tortoise, and the Tourist, Ocean Breathes Salty, and Bukowski. Tiny Cities Made of Ash Guilty Cocker Spaniels, Missed the Boat Baby Blue Sedan Bury Me with It Poison the Well, and Float On – all truly remarkable songs! No wonder they've got great fan reviews! They have also released two EPs, The Fruit That Ate Itself in 1997 and We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank in 2007. Modest Mouse has been nominated for three Grammy Awards and has won one for their song "Float On" from the album" Good News for People Who Love Bad News" (2004). On March 29, 2019, the band released "Poison the Well," and later that year on April 18 they dropped "I'm Still Here." Lastly, to finish off 2019 strong, the band released "Ice Cream Party" on November 15. These three singles were part of a 7" vinyl series called 'No One's First and You're Nex"t. On June 25, 2021, Modest Mouse released their seventh studio album, The Golden Casket. On May 5, the first single from the album, "We Are Between," was released. “Leave a Light On” was subsequently released on May 24 as the second single. Isaac Brock and Jeremiah Green are the only founding members still in the band. In 2024, Modest Mouse will celebrate 30 years of existence—an impressive milestone. Notably, this comes as no shock to those over the age of 25 who recall the band's prominence in the indie rock scene since their childhood. However, the passage of time and the history of Modest Mouse are not subjects that Isaac Brock has much cause for lamentation. Brock, as an individual, possesses a captivating and dry wit that mirrors the remarkable lyricism which serves as a distinctive and defining aspect of Modest Mouse's music. At 47 years old, they stand as the sole surviving founding member of the project, a testament to their enduring commitment and invaluable contributions. As part of the band, he has launched a total of seven albums, with their latest release being "The Golden Casket" in 2021 after a six-year hiatus. The period between their two albums prior was significantly shorter than eight years. Don’t miss out on this upcoming Modest Mouse 2024 tour and track your favorite artists!
