Andrew Falkous led Mclusky, which was created in Cardiff, Wales, in 1996. The band was known for their sardonic, high-energy punk approach, which was influenced by punk and indie bands like Sonic Youth and the Pixies. Early demos and the first album, My Pain and Sadness Is More Sad and Painful Than Yours (2000), gained a cult following in the UK. Their big break came with the 2002 release Mclusky Do Dallas, which got great reviews and had singles like "Lightsabre Cocksucking Blues." They played at the Reading and Leeds festivals more than once, toured Europe, and shared the stage with bands like The Blood Brothers and Hot Snakes.
