Trampled By Turtles is an American band that started in 2003 in Duluth, Minnesota. Trampled By Turtles members are guitarists Dave Simonett and Tim Saxhaug, bassist Dave Carroll, mandolinist Erik Berry, banjoist Ryan Young, and fiddler Dave Carroll - a lineup that remains today. Their style has been described as "progressive bluegrass" and they have become one of the most popular bands in the jam-grass genre. In 2018 they went on a farewell tour following the announcement of an indefinite hiatus for the band members to pursue other projects. Trampled By Turtles has achieved notable success over its 15-year career. They’ve topped the US Billboard Bluegrass chart with two albums: Palomino and Stars And Satellites, respectively. They've appeared on Late Night with David Letterman three times, twice singing “Wait So Long” on his show in 2012 and 2015. In 2011 they picked up a Grammy Award nomination for Best Country Instrumental Performance with “Heaven Sent” off their fourth album Danger And The Deep Blue Sea.
