Jim Moray, born in 1981 in Suffolk, England, grew up surrounded by folk traditions. He studied at Newcastle University and mixed classical instruments with electronic sounds. Sweet England, his 2002 debut album, gained critical acclaim for its blend of modern production and traditional folk music. Martin Carthy and Shirley Collins were early influences, and he played at local folk festivals, where he developed his own, inventive approach.

Moray's 2005 album Low Culture won a BBC Folk Award, and subsequent works such as In Modern Time (2010) charted internationally. He appeared at Glastonbury (2011, 2015) and the Cambridge Folk Festival, collaborated with Lau and Bellowhead, and garnered numerous folk awards. His innovative arrangements modernised folk while retaining its basic narrative strength, resulting in a devoted fanbase.

In 2025, Moray will tour the UK and Europe, performing favourites such as "Lord of the Dance" and "Sweet England." His shows feature live instruments, looping, and narration. Get Jim Moray tickets on Yadara today to experience intimate and unique shows.
