Jeff Abel, known globally by his stage name Excision, is a Canadian producer and DJ whose sound has redefined heavy bass music. Since his first release in 2007 with the No Escape EP, Excision has been a driving force in dubstep and drumstep. His unique “wobble” technique — detuning lead notes for a deep, distorted bass — has become a signature of his sound.
Career Highlights and Collaborations
In 2010, Excision collaborated with Downlink and Messinian on the hit single "Heavy Artillery", followed by "Reploid" with Downlink. The duo later released the EP Existence VIP in 2011.
Later that year, Excision dropped his debut studio album X Rated on Deadmau5’s mau5trap label, which was supported by the 2012 X Tour alongside Liquid Stranger and Lucky Date. A remix album, X Rated: The Remixes, soon followed.

Excision is also the founder of Lost Lands, a festival dedicated to heavy bass music, featuring artists like Zeds Dead, Flux Pavilion, and Illenium. His live performances are famous for massive sound systems, laser shows, and custom stage setups such as the “Executioner.”
In 2013, he introduced a 100,000-watt sound system at Boomfest, and by 2014, he upgraded to a 150,000-watt PK Sound system for his North American tour with Dirtyphonics and ill.Gates.
