Free Throw is made up of Cory Castro, Justin Castro, Jake Hughes, Lawrence Warner, and Zach Hall. They got together in Nashville, Tennessee, in 2012. The band members grew up listening to punk, hardcore, and emo music and learned to play a number of instruments, including guitar, bass, and drums, when they were teenagers. They created a sound that was full of raw emotion, complicated guitar technique, and songs that told stories about mental health, relationships, and growing up. 

Free Throw's first album, Those Days Are Gone (2014), has great songs including "Breathe In" and "Permanent." Bear Your Mind (2016), their next album, solidified their place in the emo-punk genre. Critics praised the lyrics for being honest and the music for being energetic. They have played alongside bands like Tiny Moving Parts and Hot Mulligan on tour and at festivals like Skate & Surf and The Fest.
